The four major shipping giants announced the suspension of navigation in the Red Sea, and the Suez Canal, the “main artery” of shipping, is at risk of closure.

Recently, tensions near the Red Sea are increasing, and multiple attacks have posed huge challenges to the international shipping industry. As the Houthi armed forces in Yemen have repeatedly attacked merchant ships passing through the Red Sea, shipping risks in the Red Sea have intensified, which has had a serious impact on the global shipping industry.

The Houthis launched two ballistic missiles during the attack, one of which hit the Liberian-flagged container ship “Palatium 3″. Another ship, the Alanya, was also forced to turn around and sail south under the threat of the Houthi armed forces. In addition, a Houthi drone hit another ship, the Jasra, in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the southern Red Sea. These attacks have brought great security risks to Red Sea shipping.

As the risk of Red Sea shipping has intensified, four of the world’s five largest container freight companies (with a combined shipping capacity exceeding 54% of the world’s total shipping capacity) have announced a complete suspension of traffic through the Red Sea. This decision has a major impact on the global shipping industry, because the Suez Canal is one of the world’s largest shipping arteries and carries a large amount of cargo transportation around the world. Normally, it takes about 12 days for a cargo ship to travel from the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean countries at a speed of 12 knots, while it takes 41 days to go around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, adding about 10,000 kilometers to the voyage. If the Suez Canal is “stalled”, it will have a profound impact on global trade and logistics.

Illustration of sailing around the Cape of Good Hope

Due to the increased risk of Red Sea shipping, our products cannot be transported normally through the Suez Canal and need to be detoured around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa. This incident has affected the shipment of our products , such as miniature circuit breaker MCB , moulded case circuit breaker MCCB , Air circuit breaker ACB,AC CONTACTOR , Automatic transfer switch ATS. So if you want to buy some low voltage products( MCB ,MCCB , ACB ,ATS ,AC CONTACTOR ,SPD…) ,you should make you purchase plan in advance .

However, we believe this is only a temporary difficulty. We trust that the global community will work together to ensure the safety of the Red Sea and restore normalcy to our shipping channels. During this period, we will pay close attention to the development of the situation and maintain close contact with our customers and partners to try our best to mitigate the impact of this incident on our business.

This incident once again reminds us of the importance of shipping safety. We will pay more attention to the safety of logistics and transportation and take more measures to ensure that our products can be delivered to customers safely and on time.
